The Irish Independent just named the ten top up-and-coming  Irish actresses we can expect to see on the big screen or Broadway before long.  Niamh Algar was one. Two years ago, Niamh was cast by Brainstorm Director Kirsten Cavendish in a Cannes Film Festival selected short film,  The Square of the Cube.

"I always wanted to be an actor, but come from a diverse, very academic family so I studied design," she recalls.

Paying her way into the Gaiety School of Acting with design jobs, Niamh cut her teeth with Dublin Shakespeare before finding herself in front of the camera.

"I prefer to think that you are your own competition," she says. "I know that rejection will come, but it's my own fault if it does. If acting was that easy, everyone would be doing it."

Brainstorm Creative Shooting For JetSuiteX

Brainstorm Creative pulled another long day for JetSuite this weekend, shooting one of their new  Embraer 135 aircraft at Santa Barbara Airport.  It's never easy shooting onboard due to the cramped conditions, but with the help of a custom built dolly that would  fit in the 17" aisle, we managed to get some excellent footage.  Finishing off the day  with take-off and landing shots in a beautiful sunset from the side of the runway was a satisfying transition to the edit suite.  Watch this space for the finished film.

Meanwhile ... Back at Galactic

Virgin Galactic is powering ahead and making fantastic progress! Brainstorm Creative were back out at Mojave recently shooting or a project and it’s always good to see old friendly faces mixed in with the new as the team constantly expands.

JetSuite Announce New Fleet Addition and JetSuite X

Brainstorm Creative was busy with a drone in Canada before Christmas, shooting the new Embraer 135’s for JetSuite. The new additions to the fleet were only announced yesterday, so it has been hush-hush until now. It’s easier to get an audience with the Pope than to shoot around aircraft with a drone, but that is exactly what Director Kirsten Cavendish managed to pull off for JetSuite, capturing some amazing shots on the ground and taking off. Watch this space for the new JetSuite X video, coming soon.

No Two Journeys Are The Same

Gerard Byrne needs almost no introduction. As one of Ireland’s leading contemporary artists, his extensive collection is representative of a scope and versatility virtually unparalleled in the current contemporary art scene. Brainstorm Creative director Kirsten Cavendish recently spent several days with Gerard, filming a piece entitled “No two journeys are the same”, about the artist, his philosophy, vision and everyday challenges.

Gerard’s landscape and architectural works take one on a stunning and insightful journey through some of the most spectacular vistas, both in his native Ireland and on his foreign travels, particularly in France, Britain, Croatia, Poland and Morocco.

For those already acquainted with Gerard’s work, his frequent plays on perspective are one of the most exciting aspects of his compositions. Equally, it is exciting and challenging to probe into his still life and figurative works and dare to delve into the mind of their creator. The sheer scale and powerful depictions presented within these works have made him one of the most exciting figurative artists on the contemporary scene in Ireland today.
The speed and spontaneity with which he works is demonstrative of a talent which is nothing short of pure nature – a true gift, which has given Gerard the confidence and skill to take his work in such diverse, complex and challenging directions.

Brainstorm Does Zip for Zee

We are excited to report that Brainstorm Creative has done absolutely nothing for the thoroughly amazing stealth start-up, Zee.

Zip, zilch, zero. So there was no way we could possibly have got in the way of their terrific work of creating an entirely new aircraft. We are, however, quite surprised how good nothing can look, and we are happy to do zip for Zee again, any time they don’t need anything.

Long Days for JetSuite Shoot

JetSuite, one of the fastest growing private-jet charter companies in the US, asked Brainstorm Creative to create a beautiful film dedicated to the pilots, ground crew and support team that make it possible for them to fly each day.  Brainstorm Creative Director, Kirsten Cavendish, shot for two days in Van Nuys and Santa Barbara airports.  Using an Arri Alexa and Zeiss super-prime lenses, the footage was all shot anamorphic to give a feature-film look to the end result.  See below for the finished film.
